State and regional grants

Overview

VicHealth's State and Regional Grants support initiatives at a state, regional or local level to support a range of organisations to develop partnerships and undertake activities to increase physical activity amongst disadvantaged groups and communities.

Aims

  • To increase participation in community sport and active recreation, particularly for people with disabilities and those from low socio-economic, Indigenous and new arrival communities.
  • To demonstrate the social, physical and mental heath benefits of physical activity participation.
  • To prioritise interventions aimed at getting inactive or partially active people doing sufficient physical activity for health gain.

Eligible Organisations

Eligible organisations are those State and Regional agencies whose purpose includes the facilitation, or organisation, of sport and active recreation as a major responsibility.

These organisations are:

  • State Sporting Associations (SSA)
  • Regional Sports Assemblies (RSA)
  • Peak Sport and Active Recreation Industry Organisations (Peak)

Funding

Grants from $30,000 up to a maximum of $250,000 (excluding GST) per year for up to 4 years are available to support organisations to work at a state, regional or local level to increase participation in community sport and active recreation, particularly for people with disabilities and those from low socio-economic, Indigenous and new arrival communities.
