This resource showcases a collection of VicHealth supported research projects completed between 2010 and 2011.

This survey was conducted to assess the level of support for the kinds of prevention startegies, recommended by a range of expert bodies, to improve the health of all Australians.

“How much is it worth?” is a frequently-asked and challenging question in the context of preventative health and health promotion. This new report tackles this challenge head on. It estimates the ‘health status’, ‘economic’ and ‘financial’ benefits of reducing the prevalence of the six behavioural risk factors that contribute to chronic diseases affecting millions of Australians.

VicHealth has a strengthened focus on ‘knowledge’. We have identified an openness to support a wider range of knowledge-related activities, a wider range of knowledge categories, and a new set of challenges for the organisation to do more than simply fund research.

This analysis of statistical health trends of the past 20 years reveals a remarkable increase in longevity but a disturbing rise in a range of chronic diseases that can greatly impair our enjoyment of our final years.

This survey presents findings from research commissioned by VicHealth aimed at better understanding community knowledge of, attitudes towards, and support for, health promotion and disease prevention.
