The Mental Health Music Network provided weekly music workshops, monthly performance events, 15 Mins of Sane theatre project, workshops in country Victoria and the annual Mad Hatters Music Festival for people living with a mental illness from across Melbourne and the state.

Weekly workshops based in South Melbourne were an important social as well as music development opportunity for participants, who come from all over Melbourne. Workshops ran in roughly 2 month long series throughout the year, with performances at the monthly Go Live! event at St Kilda Bowls Club. The main focus was on songwriting and performance, and included the making of the music video clip Enigma, a small choir, an emerging rock band, music industry sessions and African drumming.

The theatre project emerged from an extraordinary collaboration with members of the Mental Health Review Board and aims to present a funny but educative look at mental health and the mental health system.

Mad Hatters Music Festival was this year be part of the launch of Mental Health Week in Federation Square at the beginning of October.
