Workforce development – Participation for Health short course
VicHealth and Deakin University have developed a short course to support individuals to promote mental and physical health. This course is an update of the highly popular Mental Health Promotion Short Course.
Who can attend?
This course is designed to improve the skills and capacity of workers from diverse sectors, including education, sport, the arts, crime prevention, health, community and local government.
How much does it cost?
This 2-day course is available on a fee-for-service basis, depending on the location and audience of the course. If you would like to discuss organising a course for your organisation, PCP or region, please contact Sarah Posner on sposner@vichealth.vic.gov.au or 03 9667 1333.
What will I learn?
The course aims to increase workers' and organisations' capacity to undertake mental and physical health promotion activity, as well as provide resources and models to enhance evidence based project planning, implementation and evaluation of activity with specific focus on VicHealth’s Participation for Health Framework. Please note this course focuses on capacity building to increase organisational ability to improve communities’ mental and physical health, not on early identification, intervention or treatment of mental and physical illness.
With a specific focus on VicHealth’s Participation for Health Framework, participants will:
- learn about the factors influencing mental and physical health;
- develop skills in planning, evaluating and monitoring mental and physical health activities; and
- receive a range of resources.
