Plannning healthy environments
An ideal healthy environment includes incentives for people to walk and exercise, safe areas for children to play outside, street-friendly building design that promotes a sense of safety and interaction between neighbours

Sexual and reproductive health
VicHealth invests in the Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society, which undertakes social research and training into the areas of sex, sexuality, their place in society and their relationship to health. We also fund researchers within this centre and other organisations.

Emerging issues
VicHealth is responding to new issues by supporting innovation, testing out new ideas and contributing to the future knowledge-base for health promotion.

International
VicHealth has many points of influence around the world and provides information and guidance to foreign governments who wish to establish similar models in their own country.

Drug misuse
For many years, VicHealth has been a significant voice in debates around illicit drugs, and a supporter of programs that and reduce substance misuse.

National prevention summit
This summit in April 2008 brought together both the Federal and Victorian Ministers for Health and over 100 of Australia's leaders at all levels of government, health, business, academia and the non-profit sector to develop strategies for stemming the tide of chronic illness.
