This research will investigate the role that technology can play in strengthening the social connection of young people with Aspergers syndrome, high functioning autism and intellectual disability. The research will focus on the role that 3D virtual worlds such as Second Life, web-based communication platforms and other free computer-based tools, can play in decreasing the social and geographic isolation of this group.
