From the moment I first watched the UK’s This Girl Can ad featuring real women getting active without inhibitions I felt completely inspired.

Seeing real women of all different shapes, sizes and colours jiggle, sweat and move was a refreshing and much needed change to how women are represented on our TV screens.

We know that women too often feel like they are not fit enough, strong enough, fast enough or wearing the right clothes to be physically active.  I certainly feel this way at times. This Girl Can aims to challenge these fears by showcasing real women, doing their thing and giving it a go.

The campaign has had enormous success in the UK inspiring 2.8 million women to become active after watching the video.

Now This Girl Can is coming to Australia and we want Victorian women to be a part of the campaign.

Victorian women will have the opportunity to join this ground-breaking global movement which is all about real women inspiring other women to get active. We are looking for women of all shapes and sizes, all abilities, taking on all kinds of physical activity. By sharing their story, Victorian women have the chance to inspire others to become more physically active. This worked in the UK and I know it can work here in Victoria.

We’re calling for Victorian women to share their story with the chance to feature in the TV ads airing in early 2018. Women can submit their stories at www.thisgirlcan.com.au or by visiting the mobile story pod which will be touring Victoria over the remainder of 2017.

I hope that Victorian women have the same reaction I did when they get involved in this amazing campaign, joining the growing number of women saying ‘This Girl Can!’
