For the past 12 years, VicHealth has been working with partners across sectors to address violence against women. We have been proud to lead research and programs in primary prevention and to help build knowledge and readiness across community and government to tackle the drivers of violence against women.

Our work has contributed to an exciting national movement to reduce violence against women and shows how far we have come since the first women’s refuge opened in this country.

But we still have a long way to go in creating a society that rejects violence and embraces gender equality. VicHealth is now working with partners to integrate our past activities, and we are also moving into new and refreshed areas of research and innovation to prevent violence against women. In this snapshot we highlight the key contributions VicHealth has made to this important field and also point to the new organisations and projects that are taking this work into the future.
