To build upon our commitment to reduce harm from alcohol, VicHealth has created four resources that aim to improve knowledge and understanding of Victoria’s liquor licensing system.
The Unlocking Liquor Licensing resources aim to improve knowledge and understanding of Victoria’s liquor licensing system and help reduce the harmful impact of alcohol within Victorian communities.
Resource 1: Planning permits for licensed premises provides information on the planning permit process for licensed premises, and how both local government and the broader community can influence or object to planning proposals or liquor licence applications.
Resource 2: Liquor licensing laws provides an overview of Victoria’s liquor licensing laws, and how community members and councils can object to a liquor licence application. This also includes information on the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation’s decision-making procedures in relation to liquor licence applications and potential objections.
Separate resources have been prepared for councils and the community regarding planning permits for licensed premises and liquor licensing laws, available below.
Resource 1: Information for the Victorian community about planning permits (685KB)
Resource 1: Information for Victorian councils about planning permits (713KB)
Resource 2: Information for the Victorian community about liquor licensing laws (700KB)
Resource 2: Information for Victorian councils about liquor licensing laws (720KB)
Published by the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR), this resource aims to provide councils with clearer guidelines about liquor licensing objections and applications.
