Celebrating three decades of improving the health and wellbeing of all Victorians.

In 2017, VicHealth celebrates thirty years of health promotion in Victoria. Since its inception as part of the Tobacco Act of 1987, VicHealth has paved the way for innovative new approaches to health and making a positive impact on the lives of people across Victoria.

VicHealth celebrates 30 years

Our inaugural leaders at VicHealth’s inception take us on a journey back to 1987 and inspire us on our and our partners’ continuing role to promote health.

Kids camp out at Government House

Thirty tents plus a central tepee were set up on the Main Lawn at Government House, in what is believed to be the first camp out held at Government House, to mark the 30th anniversary of health promotion by VicHealth. The overnight camp was hosted by the Hon. Linda Dessau AM, Governor of Victoria, who is Patron-In-Chief of VicHealth, and her husband, Mr Anthony Howard QC.
