This is a guide for councils on how they can enhance public drinking water facilities through the supply, access to and promotion of water fountains across a range of settings. This includes sports and recreation centres, commercial/retail areas, playgrounds, walking trails, schools, workplaces, open spaces and transport hubs.

Water fountains are provided by local governments for public convenience, health and wellbeing and environmental sustainability. These guidelines suggest best practice principles for the installation, replacement, maintenance and promotion of water fountains within Councils.
