April is a great month to get outdoors and enjoy the crisp Autumn air. It’s also the Premier’s Active April challenge, when Victorians are encouraged to do 30 minutes of physical activity every day.
Participants log their daily activity and can also create and join teams, track the progress of team members and discover events that are taking place in their local area.
The 30 minutes of activity can be made up of any sort of physical activity, including incidental activity, like taking the stairs or going for a walking meeting.
VicHealth’s free app, TeamUp (available via www.teamup.com.au, Facebook or the App Store), can help during Active April. There’s currently over 700 activities you can choose from, or if you can’t find what you’re looking for, anyone can list an activity, from bocce, to dog walking, or simply kicking the footy in the park. The idea is to enjoy being active without the pressure of committing to a team and to perhaps make new like-minded friends at the same time.
I encourage all Victorians to sign up to the Premier’s Active April and to keep moving for good mental and physical wellbeing.
