Malthouse Theatre and VicHealth are delighted to announce that Blak Cabaret, one of 2012’s most exciting cabaret productions, will head to the regions in 2013.

A massive hit at 2012’s inaugural Melbourne Indigenous Arts Festival, Blak Cabaret’s unique brand of blak brilliance will take you on a heart-warming journey into our nation’s soul. Featuring the deadliest mob of Aboriginal and Torres Strait  Islander performers, BLAK CABARET is a delicious cocktail of comedy, music, poetry and dance.

Performed as part of the Castlemaine State Festival and the Shepparton Arts Festival, Blak Cabaret will bring Indigenous and non-Indigenous audiences together for a night of outstanding entertainment. Produced by Jason Tamiru, one of Melbourne’s most exciting theatre-makers (winner of the 2012 Uncle Jack Charles Award for outstanding emerging theatre practitioner), Blak Cabaret will showcase the talents of some of our finest Indigenous performers in a fresh and fun ensemble production.

“Taking Blak Cabaret on the road is an incredible opportunity,” says producer Jason Tamiru, “and we’re delighted to continue this conversation with people from the regions. We’ve assembled a cast of some of Australia’s best Indigenous performers, so it’s terrific that such a diverse audience will get to experience these talents live and close to home.”
