Supporting young people in regional and rural Vic to be active, happy and healthy
VicHealth has a vision where no young person is denied a future that is healthy – regardless of their postcode, bank balance or background.
We know that young people are healthier and happier when they’re physically active, yet young people in regional Victoria don’t always have the same opportunities as those living in metro areas.
VicHealth is investing $1.3m to improve the health and wellbeing of young people living in rural and regional Victoria, continuing to partner with 9 Regional Sports Assemblies in 2021-2022.
Young people in regional and rural Victoria have told us they want to help shape the solutions to the issues impacting them.
This investment will enable the 9 Regional Sport Assemblies to work with and listen to young people across regional Victoria to understand what they need based on their own experiences and the barriers they face. The assemblies will then partner with local sport clubs and associations, active recreation providers, local councils, recreation facilities and other community grassroots organisations to deliver the physical activity and social connection opportunities young people want and need.
This partnership with Regional Sports Assemblies builds on VicHealth’s successful Regional Sport Program 2015-2021.
