See Beyond Race was a community-based social marketing campaign that tackled race-based discrimination by featuring local people from diverse cultural backgrounds and their real-life interests.
It was implemented in the cities of Whittlesea and Greater Shepparton and was part of VicHealth’s Localities Embracing and Accepting Diversity (LEAD) program. It was the first social marketing campaign in Australia to be delivered as part of a council-wide program.
The campaign won a National Golden Target Award from the Public Relations Institute of Australia, and was a finalist in the 2013 Government Communications Australia Awards for Communications Excellence in the Best Social Marketing Campaign category.
The campaign was a partnership between VicHealth, the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission, the City of Whittlesea and the City of Greater Shepparton.
