VicHealth has announced its first ever Social Marketing Research Practice Fellow, Griffith University's Dr Krzysztof Kubacki.
The Victorian Health Promotion Foundation (VicHealth) has today announced Doctor Krzysztof Kubacki at Griffith University will undertake a five-year VicHealth Social Marketing Research Practice Fellowship.
VicHealth CEO Jerril Rechter said social marketing was a vital area to develop evidence-based strategies and guidelines.
“Social marketing has quickly become an essential behaviour change tool for VicHealth,” Ms Rechter said.
“VicHealth’s strategic agenda recognises the need to embrace social marketing as a critical way of understanding the public’s needs and wants, in order to drive change in awareness, attitudes and, ultimately, behaviour.”
Ms Rechter said the Fellowship, a first for VicHealth, was appointed after a competitive tender process beginning last August.
“Dr Kubacki has a demonstrated track record in social marketing research, in particular, translating social marketing research into business-friendly, applicable practice guidelines,” Ms Rechter said.
“His extensive experience in social marketing, alcohol issues, social media and the arts aligned well with VicHealth’s priority areas, so we felt he was the best candidate for this important role.
“We welcome this appointment and look forward to continuing to deliver high quality evidence and policy to benefit all Victorians.”
Dr Kubacki added: "We are delighted to be recognised by VicHealth as a leader in social marketing research in Australia.
“The fellowship allows Social Marketing @ Griffith to work with VicHealth to examine evidence on social marketing effectiveness in the long term. This provides a unique opportunity to challenge conventional social marketing thinking.”
Dr Kubacki will be supervised by research advisor, Dr Sharyn Rundle-Thiele.
