Victorian Health Minister The Hon. David Davis has today announced the reappointment of five leading health and sport experts - and the appointment of one new member - to the Board of the Victorian Health Promotion Foundation (VicHealth).

Sports and physical activity experts Susan Crow and Nicole Livingstone (OAM) will continue on the VicHealth Board and will be joined by new member Nick Green (OAM).

In addition, illness prevention experts Professor Michael Morgan, Professor Margaret Hamilton (AO) and arts administration representative Professor Ruth Rentschler (OAM) will continue their tenures.

“These board members are leaders in their fields and bring with them specific expertise which will guide VicHealth in the coming years,” Minister Davis said.

“As well as congratulating our current board members on their ongoing tenure, I am pleased to welcome Nick Green to the VicHealth Board as well. Mr Green brings with him a wealth of experience in the sports sector and will be a valuable addition to the team.”

Mr Green has senior experience across numerous areas including elite high performance and is currently the Group Manager of Acquisition and Development at the Victorian Major Events Company. He has attended seven Olympic Games and was the Chef de Mission for the 2012 Australian Olympic Team. He has attended the Games as an athlete, broadcaster and team manager, firstly at Barcelona in 1992 when he joined forces with three other experienced rowers to form the “Oarsome Foursome”.

In recognition of Mr Green’s sporting achievements, he was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM), inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame and received numerous awards of distinction.

VicHealth Chair Mark Birrell said these appointments will support VicHealth to deliver its Action Agenda for Health Promotion over the coming years.

“VicHealth enjoys unique tri-partisan political support, which sets it apart from other organisations and gives us the opportunity to work with a variety of partners to tackle complex health issues,” Mr Birrell said.

“We have always been fortunate to have a diverse and knowledgeable Board. I have no doubt our continuing board members and our newest addition, Mr Green, will draw on their experience to add valuable insight that guides our work so that we can continue to provide world-class health promotion activity to all Victorians.”
