Through a shared funding pool of $607K, this opportunity elevates the work of 19 Aboriginal-led community organisations to improve the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Victoria. Each program will work with young mob (0-30 years) across one or more focus areas of leadership; healing and wellbeing; and healthy eating, movement and connection through music and arts. ​

This funding round is primarily designed for young mob by young mob across Victoria who came together to form the Strong Young Mob Committee. It's been self-determined by Community, providing the platform for organisations to deliver projects in ways that work for them and maximize Community impact.

    Young Mob Art Exhibition aims to help mob in Seymour and surrounds learn and develop skills in their chosen mediums. This will help them learn to mentor younger mob and teach them new skills with the goal of gaining passion and desire in a small rural town with no Aboriginal youth programs or group.

    Mob on Country is a bushtucker garden program that'll provide our youth mob with tools to grow strong physically and mentally, being self-determined. Mob on Country will strengthen and embrace connection to land, hold soil in hand, learning how it cares for us, and how we care for it.

    Get off Ya Moom! is an Aboriginal Youth Led healthy lifestyle program, engaging Local Youth in group activities and workshops focused on physical activity, 'did you know?' health education, social media campaigns and Cultural activities to improve health outcomes, build resilience and improve mental health outcomes in our Community.

    Yuluwirri Mari (Rainbow Aboriginal Person) is a co-designed series of workshops and Cultural opportunities designed to promote conversations, connections and tools that will support LGBTQIA+ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people. This program will run over four weeks, having one session per week to a group of 6-8 young people.

    Strong Young Mob Healing and Wellbeing Retreat is a 2-day cultural awareness retreat on Country. The Strong Young Mob Healing and Wellbeing Retreat will offer a reconnection to country through cultural movement, cultural activities, traditional cooking and storytelling with key Elders.

    Supporting Youth in a Rural Community by paying sporting and pool entry fees for Aboriginal families in Robinvale and surrounding districts. MVAC through this project would like to assist further by supply uniforms, financial assistance for travel and accommodation for families whose children attend tournaments or for children who have been selected to play professionally.

    First Nations Youth Leadership and Wararak programs  coordinate and deliver fortnightly Secondary School Mentoring and Support Service and Wararak program for young women and gender diverse First Nations youth. This will include the preparation and delivery of fortnightly Wararak days and All Together Business using Nalderun's Cyclic Mentoring philosophy.

    Ngarrimili's Youth Pipeline program at Murran is a unique program for young First Nations people to have access to increased skills, capability building within the topic of leadership, mentoring and wellbeing supports to enhance and improve the overall wellbeing and life for participants. The goal of this program is to empower, provide confidence and support wellbeing for young First Nations people. Murran is a new, iconic First Nations business, retail and arts hub located in Geelong on Wadawurrung Country, with the vision to nurture and advance First Nations entrepreneurship and economic development.

    Wulumbarra is a Cultural immersion through song, dance, language and custom tool making. The program is aimed at promoting leadership and self-determination through the mentorship of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island young men between the ages of 13-30 years old.

    Empowering Future Leaders Today is a series of empowerment workshops over 4 weeks. 2 will be held during 2024/2025 running weekly workshops around traditional healing, dance movement, connecting to Country and arts ending in participants to plan the 2025 Event. Sunbury Aboriginal Corporation has held a Healthy Happy Deadly event each year for the past 10 years.

While traditional dance has been lost in the past few decades on Country we are striving to bring the knowledge together to create the leaders of tomorrows dance group.

    Ngargee Dance Program provides an opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls and young women living off Country to deeply connect with their Culture and Community through dance, be guided by local Elders and professional First Nations dance teachers and strengthen their Cultural identity and health outcomes.

    Celebrating our Success is an opportunity for our young people who are preparing to graduate year 12 to learn the traditional methods of creating a possum shawl and being able to have it presented back to them at a Community graduation celebration.

    Through our eyes will allow young people to learn basic photography skills, connect with elders and tell our communities stories, through our own eyes. Young people will have the opportunity to exhibit this art along with be employed casually post program.

    It's a Mob Thing health music festivals will partner with the Wathaurong Aboriginal Cooperative to create a culturally safe and accessible environment for young mob to come together and enjoy music from top First Nations performers, whilst learning about and empowering Community with health education through health promotion and activities.

    Big Sis On Country Retreat is a cultural getaway for 20 First Nations young women (18-30yrs) pursuing health careers, to fill their cups through connection to Culture, Community and Country, mitigating the impacts of racism and colonialism, and enabling young women to show up in their roles strong in spirit, identity and Culture.

    Koorie Youth Summit will be held in late March 2025, WILLUM WARRAIN aims to hold its annual Aboriginal Youth Summit involving Aboriginal students from secondary school across the Mornington Peninsula and beyond. The focus is on building Cultural connection to place and shared regional identity.

    Now More Than Ever is a sporting carnival with approximately 400 students attending from a variety of schools around the region. The carnival sports include football, netball, basketball, cross country and volleyball. Indigenous female students will lead, create, host, dance and participate, creating an atmosphere of connection, self-determination, reconciliation, and friendship.
