To get more Victorians active including through sport and walking, VicHealth’s strategic approach focuses on making physical activity participation part of everyday living, and competitive and social sport.

The Physical Activity, Sport and Walking Investment Plan (2014 to 2018) builds on our previous work which focused on organisational capacity building and transitions towards direct engagement of Victorians in physical activity through investments and initiatives encouraging physical activity participation through sport and walking.

Regular physical activity is a key factor in promoting good health and preventing chronic disease, however less than a third of Australians are getting enough to benefit their health.
